Elton Henning of Kingsley MI passed away on April 19, 2020.

Elton was born in Highland Park Michigan on October 6th 1943 to Edward and Elsie Henning.

Elton graduated from Berkley High School in 1962 and served for 4 years in the Air Force. He married Carol Ann Ferres on June 15, 1963. After serving his country he became a fireman on the Birmingham Fire Department.

A love of whittling wood led to a renowned career of wildlife wood sculpting. He was a well known world championship carver. His red-tailed hawk carving graced the cover of the Buick dealership magazine in 1984. He was invited to the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum to exhibit for the 1984 Birds in Art Exhibition and featured in numerous magazine and newspapers over the years.

Elton moved up north to Kingsley mi in 1973 to enjoy a simpler life where he built his home with his wife. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and being on his land. He was well known for his green thumb and could grow anything.

Elton is survived by his wife Carol, daughters Danielle (Frank) Hayward of Oak Island NC, Jennifer (Kevin) McDunnell of Kingsley MI. Grandchildren Noelle (Paul) Baysden of Graham NC, Forrest Hayward of Raleigh NC, Ethan McDunnell of Kingsley Mi, Seth and Luke Hayward of Oak Island NC, 3 great grandchildren and also survived by his sister Diana Thorp and nieces and nephews.
