Life Story / Obituary

Emily Lichty Woods, WFA as she insisted she be called left the world June 17, 2019. She was surrounded by her family. Her husband Michael of 56 years could always be found supporting Emily’s artistic endeavors. Where there was Moo, Musty was close by. Children Laura Woods (Dawn Wochinski) and Brandon Woods (Tricia Fitzner) shared her life and all the laughs and pranks that came with that.

Emily leaves behind weekly trips to the Jazz Jam at The Workshop, Jeff Haas Jazz, drinks at The Top and Sunday Soup at the Lichty Lodge spent with her sister Carroll Hueller (Lichty), brother Leon Lichty and sister in law Linda Lichty (Wressel), along with dear neighbors and friends, Borocks, Rices, and so many more.

Anyone who knew Emily knew you were sure to laugh when you spent time with her. Emily taught Art in Traverse City schools for many years, then continued to create, paint, build and color. The mediums would morph but the depth, feeling, and color were always a staple. Em believed everyone was creative and talented and guided anyone she touched to find their inner artist.

There was no shortage of fun and laughs when Emily was around. (You also had to watch your favorite scarf, necklace or gloves!)

Her lesson to us all is “Don’t color inside the lines!”

She was and always will be our “Wonder Woman”

Memorial Services will be held 11 am, Monday June 24, 2019 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, on Garfield, Rd.
