Floyd Kantz age 79 of Mayfield, Michigan passed away quietly at Munson Medical Center after a long hard battle with cancer with his family by his side. Floyd was born September 25, 1945 in Elkhart, Indiana to Charles and Wanda (Ostrom) Kantz.
After moving in 1957 to Traverse City (Rennie Lake Resort) with his parents and siblings, Charlene, Mike, Charles, Karen and Andrea, Floyd graduated for Traverse City High School in 1963.
After graduation he attended a trade school for Tool and Die at Alpena College. He got his Journeyman's card while working for Taylor Products in Elkhart. Moving back to Traverse City he was employed at Tower Automotive and retiring in 2007 after 30 years.
Floyd married Sally Ann (Marvin) in 1978 and upon his retirement they traveled to many states and Canada on his Moto Guzzi motorcycle with a small trailer with all their camping gear. Floyd and Sally never turned down anyone that needed help no matter what it was, as they both were jack of all trades and masters of none.
Floyd is survived by his wife Sally and their children, David Kantz, Kenneth Kantz, Troy Kantz, and Anne Mathis; 8 grandsons; 1 step grandson; 1 granddaughter; 1 step granddaughter; 11 great grandchildren; 11 step great grandchild and 1 step great-great-granddaughter. Also Surviving are siblings, Mike (Marsha) Kantz, Charles (Carol) Kantz, Karen Bennett (Bob) along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, and sisters Charlene Clark and Andrea Tobias.
Cremation has taken place and private interment will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens at a later date.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions can be made to LifePoint Bible Church Building Fund.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM to at the LifePoint Bible Church, 1249 3 Mile S, Traverse City, Michigan 49696.
