Frederick Dreves

Frederick John Dreves, age 91, died in his home in Traverse City on December 9th, 2025. He graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1955 and married his high school sweetheart, Julia Irene Strauss, and went on to have four children. They celebrated nearly 70 years of marriage. During their years together, they built and remodeled numerous homes and enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating, and gardening together.

During his lifetime, Fred worked as a mechanic at Grand Traverse Auto and The Concrete Service. Later he worked at Consumers Power in the Bulk Power department.

He is survived by his daughters, Debra Safronoff (Joel), Cheryl VanSanten (Jon), and Linda Dahl (Rich) and son, Rick Dreves (Tracey). He was also survived by 9 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia and his grandson Brock Safronoff.

Please join us at Christ the King Church in Acme on January 8th, at 12:15pm to celebrate Fred’s life. Visitation with family at 11:30 am. Lunch will be served after the mass. Flowers and cards may be sent to Christ the King Church at 3801 Shore Road, Williamsburg MI 49690.
