Gary Murner

Gary Leon Murner passed away peacefully on November 4th, 2023 at the age of 83.

The first of two children, Gary was born on April 4th, 1940 to Helen (Carpenter) Murner and Leon C. Murner in Traverse City where he was a lifelong resident.

Gary graduated from Central High School in 1958 where he ran track and wrote for the school paper. Shortly after graduation he attended Northwestern Michigan College and eventually took over the family business, Michigan Creditors Service.

In 1971 he married Carol Ann Schultz in her hometown of Alpena Michigan. He is survived by Carol and their son, Christopher, his older children, Janice Zeivel (Barry) and Robert Murner (Christine). He is also survived by his brother James R. Murner.

Gary has four grandchildren, Patricia (Zeivel) TenBrock, Brandon Zeivel, Nicholas Murner, Sydney (Murner) Vossmer, and 4 great granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational Church on Center Road on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 11:00 am. A short reception in the church will follow.
