Harry Bishop Gough

Beloved husband and father, devoted believer in Christ, and respected businessman.

After long suffering, Harry Bishop Gough was called to his Savior’s arms on September 11, 2026.

Harry was born on October 25, 1957 in Detroit, the family lived in Warren before moving to Coleman, Michigan where he met his high school sweetheart, Kim Ayotte. Harry graduated from Coleman High in 1975. He took to hard labor and long hours early in life alongside family at Coleman Dairy. His amazing work ethic and friendly spirit built strong bonds and deep friendships. In 1999 Harry and Kim were awarded a prized 7-11 business franchise in Traverse City.

Together, Harry and Kim, established themselves in Northwest Michigan and ran the store on 14th Street near Division for 23 years. Their faith was shown through deep devotion to their wonderful customers, vendors, and employees. He was a steadfast member of Prince of Peace Lutheran church, serving as an elder among other leadership positions.

Harry lived a life of joy and celebration. He loved fishing and golf. His passion for woods and waters was borne out in his enthusiasm for walking sandy beaches with Kim, loving on his dog Sophie, creative gardening and John Deere tractors. Harry was also a highly skilled martial artist, earning a 5th degree black belt in taekwondo, eventually teaching martial arts. Among his many loves was his granddog, Samantha, who remained at his side as he passed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Kimberly Ann (Ayotte) Gough; they were married on October 30, 1976 and daughter Amanda Gough of Traverse City. Other cherished survivors include: sisters Vickie (Steve) Miller, Jennifer (Mark) Lehman, nieces and nephews, Joe, Chris, Vanessa, Jamie, Courtney, Corinne, Melissa and Brandon, brother-in-law, Kevin A. Ayotte, stepmother in-law Cindy S. (Dave Sleeper) Ayotte and stepbrother in-law, Ryan Jussila.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Erica A. (Gough) Paul, son-in-law Michael B. Paul, parents Harry B. Gough (Sr) and Judith C. (Heck) Gough, mother-in-law Betty J. Fanger, and father-in-law, Raymond A. Ayotte and stepbrother in-law, Dustin M. Jussila.

Funeral services will be held at Prince of Peace Ev. Lutheran Church, 2200 LaFranier Road, Traverse City, Michigan. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with worship beginning at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon. Private Burial will be held at Warren Twp. Cemetery, Coleman, Michigan at later date. Memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
