Life Story / Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Herb Abramson at the age of 84 as he headed up to Heaven on March 6, 2026. Herb leaves behind his loving wife, Marianne T. Hughes; sister, Patricia Schleh; nieces and nephews, Kathleen Watts, Stephen (Joan) Schleh, Robert (Janet) Schleh, and Kaylee (Georger) Coronado; and life-long friend, Dan Jones.
Herb was born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 26, 1942. He grew up in Dearborn, Michigan, and graduated from Fordson High School. Shortly after high school, Herb joined the Navy serving on the S.S. Enterprise. After his honorable discharge, he went to work at the Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn as an electrician and retired after thirty years.
Herb was a very talented “handyman” as he could fix just about anything inside and outside the house. He was always ready to jump in when family and friends needed his helping hands.
Family members who preceded Herb in death: his parents; father-in-law, William Hughes; mother-in-law, Irene Hughes; brothers-in-law, Lauren Schleh and Brian Hughes; sister-in-law, Catherine Hughes; and nephew, James Remsnyder.
A warm thank you to the Peninsula Twp. EMS, The Fire Dept. EMS on Front St., and to the staff at Munson Hospital during Herb’s final days with their professional, comforting and kind care, they will long be remembered.
