Life Story / Obituary
Hillary Joanne (Curtiss) Beery, 40, passed away unexpectedly at home on November 16, 2025.
Born to John and Mary Curtiss on August 13, 1985, Hillary brought sparkle to everything she touched. Her ability with words was unmatched—she knew exactly what you needed to hear and could make it sound like poetry, always with a hint of sarcasm.
Her appreciation of art showed in everything she did, from her love of flowers to her choice of paint colors; she saw the beauty in all things. The unwavering love she gave to everyone who became part of her life was a gift. Most of all, she treasured her family. Her children brought her abundant joy—they kept her laughing and singing, and her love for them was pure, full, and fierce.
She also held deep love for Brent. She viewed him so highly and knew she was blessed to have him. He understood her, helped keep her soft when she needed it, and matched her sarcasm in a way that kept laughter abundant. May they continue to feel her love through laughter and the beauty that surrounds them.
Hillary is survived by Brent Blonshine; Easton Beery; Hudson Beery; Cecily Blonshine; Bode Blonshine; John Curtiss; Mary Boettner Curtiss; Katelyn Curtiss Bumgardner; Travis Bumgardner; niece Porter Bumgardner; Joshua (Katie) Beery; grandmother Joan Boettner; grandmother Lucille Palmer; Lisa and Mark Worthington; Jake Worthington; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who became family.
She is preceded in death by her grandfather’s John J. Curtiss (Poppy), John E. Boettner, and Tom Palmer.
A celebration of life will take place on December 13, 2025, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Interlochen, 20724 Honor Hwy, Interlochen, MI 49643 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
