Jack Akers, 90, of Traverse City, passed away on Sunday, May 24. He was born in Summit City.

Jack served in the United States Army.

Jack owned a mobile home business in Detroit for some time before returning to Traverse City where he had a mobile home business , also a used car lot. In addition, he drove a school bus before retiring.

Jack enjoyed attending auto races and playing euchre with many dear friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Akers; his son, Ronald Akers; and Jack's 4 sisters.

He is survived by his son, David Akers; longtime partner, Irene Pickard; 4 granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

Military honors will be held 2pm, Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. An informal gathering will continue from 3pm to 5pm at Life Story Funeral Home.
