Jane Thomas

Jane H. Thomas 91 of Suttons Bay, formerly of Northport died Saturday, September 4, 2010. Jane was born on April 17 1919 in Genoa, Ohio the daughter of Harry and Ethel (Wyse) Nelson.

Jane graduated from Leland High School in 1937. She spent most of her life raising her children and being very involved with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jane had worked with the Department of Aging in Westland and was an in-home caregiver. Jane was a member of the Northport Covenant Church. She loved animals, baking and loved to tease everyone. Jane was affectionately known at the “Social Director” during her years at Tendercare Health Center of Leelanau.

Jane is survived by her children, Sue (Darwin) Holton, Maurice Thomas, Tom Thomas, Marsha Flees and Jane (John) Bates, 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many more who knew her as Gram.

Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Thomas, children, Gianne, Kathleen, John, and Danny Thomas and sister, Rose Arnold.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Northport Covenant Church. The family will greet friends starting at 12 noon.

Memorials can be made to the Northport Covenant Church or the Tendercare Health Center of Leelanau to care for the loving resident animals.
