Janet Carol Brunner

Janet Carol Brunner, age 84 of Traverse City, MI passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.

Born on October 9, 1941 in Grand Marais, Michigan to William and Ina (Nyman) Traeger, Janet graduated from Grand Marais High School. After attending Muskegon Business College, Janet moved to Custer MI then later to Fremont, MI and Traverse City, MI.

Janet lived a life filled with devotion, kindness and unwavering love for those around her. She fiercely saw the very best in her family; believing in them unconditionally. She was generous, gentle and kind. She gave without expecting and loved without conditions.

Janet is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Harold Brunner; her children, William (Julie) Brunner, Carol (William) Varley and Kevin (Janice) Brunner; her cherished grandchildren, McCain, Scarlett, Max, Ally and Ingrid; and her brothers, William (Vanessa) Traeger, James (Loretta) Traeger and Harold (Heather) Traeger, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Carol Ann Purple.

A celebration of Janet’s life will be held in her honor. We invite all of Janet’s loved ones to join us in celebrating her beautiful life at 1pm on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Riverside Cemetery in Custer, MI.

Our family is grateful to know that Janet is finally at peace. She will be dearly missed and always remembered.
