Janet Sharon Kurtzal, 79, of Traverse City, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019 surrounded by family at her home. She was born January 1, 1940 in Traverse City, MI, the daughter of Edwin and Helen (Garey) Whiteford.

She was a member of St Francis Catholic Church and was married there to her husband Elery Kurtzal in 1956.

Janet is survived by her husband, Elery Kurtzal, her children Craig (Debra) Kurtzal, Lydia (Mike) Farrell, Elery (Diane) Kurtzal Jr, Kevin Kurtzal and Douglas (Becky) Kurtzal; her grandchildren, Kyle (Alice Blackmore) Kurtzal, Leah (Bill) Davenport, Carly (Joe) Trujillo, Cody Dean, Elizabeth (Neil) Heller, Jennifer Wilson, Scott (Danielle) Kurtzal, Michelle (Kyle) Jenkins and Brandon Kurtzal; great-grandchildren Sophia and Hannah Davenport, Brendan and Taylor Trujillo, Madison and Hannah Heller, Jade and Jayla Wilson, Brooke Kurtzal, McKenna and Kylee Jenkins and Brandon Jr, Arianna, Lillie, Brooklyn, Jaimson and Alexander Kurtzal; two close sisters, Marcella Sleight and Bonnie Bailey and many nieces and nephews.
