Jeremy Sparks

Jeremy Joseph Sparks, 44, passed away with his family by his side at home on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in Traverse City, Michigan. He was born on Friday, February 13, 1981, in Port Huron, Michigan, to the late Jeffry Allen Sparks and Marsha Louise Kilbourne.

Jeremy grew up in Port Huron and graduated from Port Huron Northern High School, class of 2000. His best friend and wife, Amanda, went to middle school and high school with him, and together they built a love story that lasted a lifetime. Jeremy and Amanda married young and faced every season of life hand in hand. When their oldest son, Ethan, was two years old, they moved to Traverse City, where they made their home and added two more boys, Trevor and Garrett. Jeremy’s greatest joy was being a husband and father, and his family was always at the center of everything he did.

Jeremy loved anything and everything outdoors. He found peace in the woods, excitement in the hunt, and joy in time spent fishing or camping with his boys. He had a special gift for teaching—whether it was how to tie knots, survive in the wild, or simply how to appreciate the quiet beauty of nature. He shared his knowledge as a Cub Scout Master in Troop 115, inspiring not only his sons but countless other kids who looked up to him.

Jeremy also loved to build and create. His hands were rarely idle—whether he was making rabbit hutches, small boxes, or fixing things around the house, he poured himself into each project, meticulously. But more than the things he made, it was the time he spent with his sons while making those memories that mattered most. Jeremy had a stubborn strength and a gentle heart, and those who knew him knew that his family always came first. He loved deeply, laughed easily, and gave freely.

Jeremy is survived by his wife, Amanda Lynn Sparks, and their three sons, Ethan Jeffery Sparks, Trevor Lewis Sparks, and Garrett Joseph Sparks; his brother, Jason (Tammy) Sparks of Clyde, Michigan; his sisters, Jennifer (Matthew) Martin, Ashley (Mathew) Buffa, and Julia (Jesse) Williams; his mother in-law Sue (Dave) Pype; his uncles, Jerry Sparks and William (Cheryl) Kilbourne; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who felt like family. He also leaves behind his faithful dog, Gunner, who rarely left his side.

He is preceded in death by his loving parents, who were waiting for him on the other side with open arms.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Life Story Funeral Home, the Rev. Theresa Williams officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 am.
