JoAnn Buchanan

JoAnn Marie Buchanan, 85 of Higgins Lake, Roscommon, died Wednesday, July 26, 2023 peacefully in her sleep.

She was born on May 26, 1938 in Flint, the daughter of Ronald James and Florence Maude (French) Bigelow.

She graduated from Flushing High School in 1956. She married the love of her life, Robert James Buchanan on October 26, 1957 in Flushing.

JoAnn’s entire career was at General Motors working various positions. She retired August 31, 1991 as the Human Resources/Personnel Director.

After retirement she moved to Higgins Lake and volunteered for a number of years at Grayling Mercy Hospital.

JoAnn enjoyed golfing and bowling. She was very social and loved visiting with her friends at the local Lodges, Moose, Eagles and Elks.

JoAnn is survived by her, son, Stephen (Cindy) Buchanan of Higgins Lake, grandchildren, Kileigh (Brian) Jean, Tyler Buchanan, Kacey (Ryan Hansen) Dziesinski, Jaimee Dziesinski, Rebecca Call, Lindsey Allen; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Ken (Fran) Bigelow, Janet (John) Muir, Jennie (Gary) Jean, Jim Bigelow, Jack Bigelow and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Florence Bigelow; her lifetime best friend and husband, Robert Buchanan; three great-grandchildren and siblings, Dean, Stan and Richard Bigelow.
