Josephine (Ena) B. MacVeagh of Kalkaska died Sunday January 28, 2018 at The Kalkaska Eden Center. Josephine was born in Glasgow, Scotland on July 23, 1929 to the late Robert and Alice Cowan. She married John (Jack) MacVeagh of Detroit, Michigan on September 8, 1956. She is survived by her brother Robert Cowan, sister Alice Smith, her children Robert MacVeagh and Alice (Frank) Sluss and her granddaughter Heather MacVeagh.

Ena worked as a bookkeeper for the Glasgow Whisky Bond in Scotland, before migrating to the United States. It was here that she met her partner in life, Jack.

Ena and Jack raised their family in St. Clair Shores. She was very involved in the SCS hockey league. Being a huge hockey fan, she never minded letting a referee know when they got a call wrong. In 1991, Ena and Jack retired to Bellaire. This is where Ena rekindled her lifelong passion for tap dancing. Her remarkable smile and love for dancing entertained crowds all over Northern Michigan as a member of a senior dance group.

Ena enjoyed gardening, reading and sewing. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family. Ena was kind and generous. Her quick wit and gift of gab could brighten any room.

Cremation has taken place. A private burial will be held at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at a later date.
