Kathryn Daniel

Kathryn Elizabeth Daniel, 61, of Traverse City, died Saturday, April 11, 2023. She was born on August 22, 1964 in Royal Oak, the daughter of Richard Arthur and Jeanette Elizabeth (Bedson) Daniel.

Kathryn’s father was in the military, and the family lived in many different places throughout the world. She graduated from high school in Zweibrucken, Germany. She later moved to Traverse City and received her Associate Degree in the Dental Assistant Program in 1984.

Her dental career started in Detroit. She later moved to Traverse City working for Empire Dentistry in Empire and the Denture Care Clinic in Traverse City.

She was a member, former leader and Board member with the Northern Michigan Chapter of the Michigan Dental Association.

Kathryn loved her Bunco women’s card playing group. She enjoyed ceramics, making soap, and spending time making crafts with her grandchildren. Kathryn was an avid outdoors person who enjoyed hiking, camping and kayaking. She also enjoyed singing in the choir.

She really enjoyed being a foster parent to two children in need.

Kathryn is survived by her husband, Don Shannon; they were married on August 4, 2023; sons, Daniel (Kahli) Rozanski and Charles Rozanski; her former husband and father of her sons, Steve Rozanski; her loving grandchildren, Halle, Briella and Dorothy and sister, Deborah (Michael) Husak.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Jeanette.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Child and Family Service of Northwest Michigan or the Munson Healthcare Foundation, designated for the Cancer Patient Needs Fund.

An informal gathering and light food reception will be held from 12 noon to 2pm, Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Life Story Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will start at 2pm.
