Kenneth D. Patterson, 56, of Rapid City, passed away May 13, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 1, 1955 in Pontiac the son of Rena and Simon Studebaker and subsequently adopted by Dorothy and Alvie Patterson. He leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Gail (Schlegel) and his daughter Dawn Mahaday. He is also survived by his parents Dorothy and Alvie Patterson, mother and father in-law, Wilma and Ron Bowdle, his siblings, Liz Tyler and Nancy Patterson, sister-in-law, Cindy (Dave) Welsh, special niece, Terrie Meadows and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Rena and Simon Studebaker, father-in-law, Ted Schlegel, Ken and Gail's siblings, Pam Schlegel, Linda Schlegel, Dory Taylor and Phyllis Meadows. An avid outdoorsman; Ken loved to hunt, fish, ride his quad and travel to the Soo Locks. He graduated from Churchill High School in Livonia in 1973 and worked for Deluxe Check Printers in preventative maintenance for 24 years. A gathering for family and friends will be held 4:00 pm to 7pm, Monday, May 16, 2011 at Life Story Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 17, 2011 also at the funeral home. The family's preference would be donations to the Huntington's Disease Society of America, Michigan Chapter or Munson Regional Healthcare Foundation; Munson Hospice.
