Life Story / Obituary
Kris Shannon Crosby passed away on August 26, 2024, at the age of 55 in Traverse City, Michigan. Born on February 6, 1969, Kris was a beacon of selflessness, kindness, and a rock to stand on and his family's calm throughout any storm. Kris' poise was what made him a place of safety in the face of any trial and hardship.
Kris grew up in Manitou Springs, Colorado, and later graduated high school in Sterling, Kansas. He was a dedicated entrepreneur for 30 years, he successfully ran K & R Transportation, providing an occupation for all of his children in a family business.
He was deeply committed to the faith, teaching the Bible and exemplifying Jesus in his daily actions. Kris' greatest joy was to hear that his children walk in truth (3 John 1:4). He only enjoyed hobbies that included his family: coaching basketball, skiing, golf, hiking, and bougie camping. Known for his adventurous spirit, he enjoyed boating, jeeping, fishing, traveling and spending quality time with his family.
Kris leaves behind a loving family: his cherished wife of 33 years, Rachelle Crosby; his sons, Kris Crosby II (Cayla Crosby) and Elliott Crosby; his daughters, Ellisha, Rachel, Rebekah, and Kirsten Crosby; and his name sake grandchild, Kris Crosby III.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carol and James Crosby.
A service to honor his life will be held at Bible Baptist Church on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am and a luncheon.
Kris' life was a profound example of love and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed. He was more than just a coach and leader, he was a father to many.
