Lois Melinda Sika, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of Wednesday, September 23, 2020 with her loving family by her side.

Lois was born in Cadillac, Michigan on April 25, 1934 to Webster and Beatrice Largent. While attending Cadillac High School, she met Robert Sika, the love of her life. They were married on September 6, 1953 in Cadillac. Their love for one another was the foundation that they built their life upon and a goal we all aspire to achieve. This past month they celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. Together they raised their three children and subsequently, enjoyed the fruits of their labor in their nine grandchildren.

Lois is survived by her loving husband Robert (Bob), her children; daughters Laura Sika and Roberta (Ray) Wonders and son Richard (Jeanine) Sika; her grandchildren Rob Zarafonitis, TJ (Kara) Zarafonitis, Eric Sika, Tyler (Arielle) Sika, Breanne Sika, Mariah Sika, Raymond (Heather) Wonders, Mackenzie Wonders, and Hunter Wonders; her great-grandchildren Madyson and Tucker Clous, Korbin Sika, Fletcher and Samuel Zarafonitis and Asher Sika; her beloved twin sister Deloris Hudson of Ravenna Ohio, many nieces and nephews, several cherished friends and her faithful companion Mini.

Bob and Lois are both long standing members of West Bay Covenant Church. Lois, in addition to caring for and raising her family, spent years working in careers that fed her passions; working with children and creating floral arrangements. She loved tending her flower gardens and knew the names of each flower as well as its origin. Lois was also an extraordinary cook. Her specialty was her pies. She could roll out a pie crust in her sleep and not surprising, this was one of the last culinary skills she lost to her dementia. The family would like to thank Hospice of Michigan for their compassionate care during this difficult time and in particular, her granddaughters for their loving, devoted and never-ending care during the last weeks of her life.

The memorial service will be held at West Bay Covenant Church in Traverse City on Saturday, October 3rd at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of her life, along with a luncheon, will follow in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to West Bay Covenant Church, The Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Michigan.
