Loretta "Lori" Hembrough

Loretta S. Hembrough, 81, of Traverse City, died Friday, February 28, 2025. She was born on October 5, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Alfred and Loretta Szul.

She formerly lived in Dearborn, Battle Creek and Grand Ledge.

Lori Szul married Peter Hembrough on January 20, 1967 in Dearborn, Michigan.

She was employed at Consumers Energy, Livonia where she met her husband Pete and at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing.

Family was Lori’s joy. She was so proud of her 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She enjoyed going to the casinos and tours of the local wineries. Anything Polish. She was a big Red Wings fan. She also liked wintering in Orange Beach, AL with sister Sue, brother-in-Law, Barry and special friends, Cheryl and Marv Smith.

Lori is survived by her husband of 58 years, Pete; children, Pam (Vince), Paula (Brad), Pete Jr (Melissa); grandchildren Brennan, Owen, Bryce, Brock, Caden and Avery; great grandchildren, Cora and Emme; brother, Alfred Szul Jr.; numerous cousins and their families and was Aunt to many nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Geri Mooney and Sue Sanderson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to your favorite charity or organization.

Cremation has taken place. Per Lori’s wish, a private family celebration of her life will be held at a date to be determined.
