Lorraine Brown

Lorraine Jeanette Brown, 81, of Traverse City, died on September 5th, 2012. Lorraine was born in Franklin, MA on Jan 11th, 1931 the daughter of James and Evelyn (Hubley) Bassey.

On Nov. 7, 1952 she and William Brown were joined in marriage. Lorraine moved with her husband to Traverse City in 1967.

Lorraine was a member of East Bay Calvary Church for over 35 years and was a very strong Christian woman and a born again believer. She was very active in her church as a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed singing solo's in the choir.

She belonged to the Sweet Adeline's, was a girl scout leader, volunteer with Munson Medical Center Lorraine enjoyed drawing and painting, crocheting, quilting, and loved just about anything relating to crafts. She tended to her gardens and loved to bird watch. She was a devoted member of the Audubon Society

Lorraine is survived by her husband, William Brown of Traverse City; children, Janet (Jeffrey) Neill from Port Orchard, Wa, Ruth (Robert) Knapp of Marion, IN and Leslie (Stephen) Irving from Seattle WA; grandchildren; Elizabeth, Victoria, Brittany, Erika, Alysia, Brianna, and Kino; great-grandchildren Andrew, Ethan, Noah, and Melody; siblings; Gloria Best of San Francisco, Marsha (Bruce) Rand Boston, Bruce Bassey of California, James (Lynnmarie) Bassey of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Charles Bassey.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11am Monday, Sept 10, 2012 at East Bay Calvary Church. The family will greet friends starting at 10 am.
