Louanna Marie (Seavolt) DeLand, 94, of Charlotte, died Friday, October 6, 2023. She was born on April 3, 1929 in Mulliken, Michigan the daughter of Theodore Franklyn and Margaret Augusta (Rathfoot) Seavolt. Louanna graduated from Sunfield High School in 1947. She met her future husband, Chuck in high school; they married May 31, 1947 and were married 63 years.

Louanna began working for the State of Michigan, Licensing and Regulation Department as a keypunch operator in 1967. She retired from this position in June 1984. After retirement she worked for the Michigan YMCA in the cafeteria for 3 years.

Louanna accepted Jesus as her Lord in October 1982. She enjoyed attending church at the Church of God in Grand Ledge. Later she attended the Charlotte Assembly of God, teaching Sunday School classes and visiting nursing homes to bring services to them. Louanna was on the Welcoming Committee for new church attendees. Louanna enjoyed taking care of her nephews, Brandon and Ryan Seavolt while their parents worked. She was instrumental in nurturing their relationship and knowledge of God.

Louanna enjoyed traveling, including yearly attendance to Chuck’s Naval ship’s reunions wherever they were held. Louanna enjoyed hummingbirds, gardening, shopping, and watching the deer that would come into the yard. She always presented herself in a positive manner with her clothes pressed and her hair done. Camping and canoeing, especially in Canoe Camps, with her daughter and husband were some of her fondest memories.

Louanna is survived by her daughter; Charlene Sue (DeLand) McKenna; brother, Ronald Norman (Yvonne) Seavolt; sister-in-law, Rose Seavolt and nieces and nephews.

Louanna is preceded in death by her daughter, Theda Orlene DeLand; parents, Ted and Margaret; husband, Charles Andrew DeLand; sister and brother-in-law, Dorna and Dale Fairbotham; brother and sister-in-law, Jerald and Connie Seavolt and brother, Levon Roger Seavolt.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Homes for Heroes, a veteran’s support for wounded warriors in need of home adaptations. A Celebration of Life will be held 11 am, Friday, October 13, 2023 at the Charlotte Assembly of God Church. Visitation will start at 10:30 am. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Mason Michigan. Arrangements were handled by the Rosier Funeral Home, Sunfield.
