Louis William Schussler was born in London, Ontario, on March 4, 1939. As a small Boy, he moved with his parents, George and Kathleen Schussler, to Windsor Ontario. He was a printer, and worked in Windsor, then went over to the Detroit newspapers. He finished his career at the Record Eagle, after working there for 26 years. He became an American Citizen in 1969.

He loved all horses, but especially Standardbreds and harness racing. He was on the Northwestern Mich fair board, for a time, and was also Speed Supt for the harness racing.

These past 25 years, golf and family were his biggest inspiration to "keep going". He loved Antioch Hills, in Mesick, and his golf friends and family always made him smile. Especially when he was winning quarters.

He lost his life, July 16, 2026, at home. He left behind his wife of nearly 43 years, Candi, His son Robert (Pam) Schussler, Grandson Austin (Taylor) Schussler, Great-Granddaughter Elizabeth Jeanette Schussler, who he dearly loved.

Brothers in Law Kurt (Heidi) Eichinger, Harold (Cindy) Gustafson, Nephews Benjamin Gustafson, and Kurt Eichinger. Nieces Bonnie (Rick)Phillips and Caroline Douponce.

Also daughter Penny Lafromboise, Grandson Tom (Kate) Givlin, and Jamie Givlin.

He was blessed with great friends and neighbors, friends that were like family, and the best golf buddies he could have asked for.

He will be greatly, greatly missed, and he was loved very much.
