Lyle Edward Wilson, 72 passed away peacefully, following a series of tragic health issues, March 29, 2025. He was born September 17, 1952 in Petoskey to the late Avis and Bernard Wilson.
Lyle and Nancy met while student teaching, in 1975, in Traverse City. They were married, June 25, 1977, in Jackson, Michigan.
Lyle is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Abbott Wilson; they were blessed with sons, Jason Lyle (Jamie Walter) of Whitewater, WI and Kyle Abbott (Amy Lee) of Kingsley; precious grandchildren, Atreya Rose and Paxton Jay of Whitewater WI; siblings, William (Susan), Todd (Deb) and Bernadette; many brother and sister-in-laws; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends Lyle thought of as family.
Lyle graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1971; and then Central Michigan University in 1975 with a B.S. in Education. He played basketball for the Trojans and coached many young athletes.
Lyle’s career in Sales spanned over 30 years with Jostens (Class Rings and graduation products). He called on high schools throughout Northern lower Michigan. He loved his Jostens family.
He loved and was so proud of his family. Lyle’s love of the Great Out of Doors was his sanctuary which he shared with his family. He had a true respect for nature and a passion for hunting. He had nicknames like “Jack Pine Savage” and “The Ring Man” and ”Plaid Dad.”
Per Lyle’s wishes a time to share stories will start at 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Life Story Funeral Home. A very informal gathering for family and friends will be held from 1:00 pm until time of sharing at 3:00 pm. Lyle would want you to be comfortable, so please wear your favorite flannel. No stuffy attire! If you are not able to attend, please take a walk in the woods in his remembrance.
