Mary Margaret Griffin

Margaret Griffin passed away, Thursday, January 11, 2024 surrounded by her daughter, Katie, grand pup, Milo; family and close friends.

She was born on August 16, 1951 in Detroit the daughter of Theodore Robert and Kathleen (Rogers) Griffin.

After college she became a Licensed Practical Nurse and loved working at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Margaret later moved to Traverse City and worked as a LPN at Munson Medical Center for over 35 years, retiring in 2016. She has worked as a LPN the last 2 ½ years at French Manor, Terra on LaFranier Rd.

Margaret was a true Irish Lass and was well known at the Honor MI and Traverse City Parades and Pub Crawls. Three years ago, she was named the Irish Queen for the Honor Parade. For years, Margaret has been a part of the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. She has always wanted to be named the Traverse City St. Patrick’s Day Irish Queen. This year, 2024, she has the honor of being the Irish Queen.

She was a Country Music Girl at heart. Margaret enjoyed living life to the fullest. She was a very giving person and loved her family and friends. She regularly took people under her wing. Margaret was smart, classy and very sassy! She had an infectious smile, a heart of gold, and was the life of the party. She always remained humble, generous and gave what she could to others.

She was known by many names, depending on when you knew her. Margaret was very Spiritual. She was always cheerful and touched many lives. She will be missed.

Margaret is survived by her daughters, Katie Griffin and Amber Sadler; grand pup, Milo; brother Joseph (Deborah) Griffin; sister, Lynn Parsons Laflamboy, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Karen Bierman; brother, Timothy Griffin and infant brother, Kevin Griffin.

A Celebration of her life will be held 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Sunday, January 14, 2024 at 501 Woodcreek Blvd, Club House. To honor Margaret and her Irish heritage, please wear Green!
