Marjorie Ann Halvorson passed away in the early morning hours of April 2, 2020 at Munson Medical Center due to complications from COVID-19. Marjorie was born on June 4, 1947 to Jack Neises and Ellores (Winters) Neises in Detroit Lakes, MN. She grew up in northern Minnesota as one of five children. Upon graduation from high school, she attended technical school in Thief River Falls MN, where she met her future husband, Don Halvorson. Due to Don’s job, they moved several times including Fergus Falls and Sandstone MN, Concord CA, Ovid MI, and finally settled in Traverse City. Marge ran her own in-home daycare and later worked for several businesses, including Chef Pierre, Coney Place, and Younkers (where she worked until retirement). Marge enjoyed helping with the infant and toddler Sunday school class, fishing, bowling, movies, crosswords, and frequent social outings with her friends and former co-workers. The joys of her life were her grandchildren. Marge is survived by her husband, Don; children, Peter (Brinae) Halvorson and Sheri Halvorson; her grandchildren, Wyatt, Maddie, Jadyn and Tiffany; her sisters, Lorraine Hayden and Linda (Joe) Wambach. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Steve and Robert. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 24th at 11:00am at Bayview Wesleyan Church in TC. All family and friends are invited to attend. Please visit www.lifestorytc.com to share your thoughts and more.
