Mark Smith

Mark V. Smith 52 of Traverse City died Tuesday, June 1, 2010.

Mark was born on April 26, 1958 in Detroit to the late William R. and Louise E. (Bertanzi) Smith.

Mark always had a smile and a conversation for everyone. Mark always had a positive attitude about life. Mark loved hockey and he was especially fond of the Traverse City North Stars. He volunteered for the team for every game. He never missed a game in the last 5 years.

Mark also liked to volunteer for the Cherry Festival. During the summer months Mark was the co-ordinator at the Copemish Flea Market.

Mark is survived by his wife, Mary E. Smith, sister, Julia L. (Neal) Herzberg of Clark Lake, brother, William R. Smith Jr. of Lapeer, 6 nieces and nephews, 8 great nieces and nephews. Stepchildren, Matthew (Dawn Perkowski) Lighthill of Bloomfield Hills, Danielle (Christopher) Esper of Davison, Christopher (Cassie Goodman) of Traverse City, Joseph (Andrea Stilwell) Lighthill of Traverse City, Joshua (Kimberly VanDyke) Lighthill of Virginia, step-grandchildren, Michael Westby, Avery Lighthill and Adrianna Lighthill.

Funeral Services will be held 7:00 pm Friday, June 4, 2010 at the Life Story Funeral Home, where a gathering for family and friends will be held from 4:00 pm to time of service.

Memorial Contributions may be made to his wife, Mary c/o Life Story Funeral Home.
