Mark Edward Steinebach, 56, of Traverse City, passed away on August 29, 2025. He was born on March 4, 1969, in Traverse City to Donald Duwayne Steinebach and the late Theresa Clara Steinebach (Stachnik).

Mark was the co-owner and head cook at the former restaurant Grandma’s Kitchen in Interlochen from 1989 to 2005, and also served as the receiving manager at the Women’s Resource Center Thrift Store in Traverse City. Known for his selflessness and big heart to those close to him, he always went above and beyond to help others and was the kind of person you could always count on.

He had a passion for working on cars and loved RC cars or any toy with a motor that could drive or fly. Mark enjoyed spending time tinkering and crafting in the shed he built, attending gun shows with his son, and took great pride in his decorative gardening and lawn care. One of his favorite pastimes was two-tracking through the woods of Hoosier Valley or exploring any seasonal backroad he could find. Above all, Mark cherished time with his family and loved ones.

He was a devoted father to his son, Mark Thomas Steinebach; a loving stepfather to Katie Walker and Russell Walker through his former marriage to Cheryl Ann Thomas; a beloved son to his father, Donald Duwayne Steinebach; and a caring brother to Roger William Steinebach. He will be deeply missed by many family members and friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Steinebach, whom he looked after and cared for every day until her passing.

An informal visitation will take place on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Life Story Funeral Home, a brief sharing of memories will begin at 3:30pm.
