Mary Elizabeth Bailey, age 64, of Williamsburg, Michigan, passed away in the early hours of December 27, 2019 due to complications following a stroke. She is survived by her husband and best friend of 44 years, Gary Bailey, her three children, Lauren Garvey, Caitlin Bailey, and Andrew Bailey, as well as her two grandchildren, Mason Garvey and Austin Garvey.

Mary was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Clara and Kenneth Burch. She was a life time lover of stories in all forms—books, movies, songs, etc. She was also a wonderful conversationalist, able to talk for hours on end about nothing and everything. Saying “good-bye” was always an hour-long affair.

In her early college years, Mary studied Children’s Literature in the hopes of being an Elementary School teacher. Her career path, however, lead her to nursing where she touched countless lives in the name of healing. But Mary’s life was so much more than her work.

Mary lived for her family. Everything she did, she did with her children in mind. She made sure that her children were raised with every advantage she could give them, and supported those advantages with unconditional love.

The world is now darker, but heaven is now brighter with her passing.

Memorial Services will be held 2pm, Saturday, January 11, 2020 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Elk Rapids. The family will greet friends one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or directly to the family. Please visit Life Story Funeral Home’s website at www.lifestorytc.com to share your thoughts and more.
