Mary Lydia (Rich) Ramey, 93, of Buckley, born to Frank and Elva Rich on Jan. 30, 1920, in Westfield, Ind., joined family and friends in her heavenly home on Friday, April 19, 2013.

After completing high school and seminary, she remained and taught at Union Bible Seminary in Westfield; there she met the love of her life, Earl Ramey, from Farmers, Ky. She become his bride on June 14, 1946.

Mary and Earl served in ministry for 27 years in Indiana. After 11 years at the Freedom, Ind., Nazarene Church, they retired to a small farm on White River in Freedom.

Mary loved her writing and was published on several occasions. She also loved harvesting from the garden and could play a clever game of Scrabble.

Mary is survived by her children, Paul Ramey, of Evart, Phillip Ramey, of Buckley, and Esther (Craig) Cooper, of Traverse City. She was the loving grandmother of 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mary’s husband, Earl, passed away in 1996, two weeks prior to their 50th wedding anniversary. In 1997, Mary also was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruth Ramey, of Indianapolis; and recently her daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Ramey of Marion, Ill.

Upon cremation Mary Lydia will be laid to rest next to her husband, daughter and parents. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Summit Lawn Cemetery, Westfield, Ind.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Traverse Pavilions; designate Benevolence Fund for Cottage Scholarships.
