Mathew John Schenk Jr.

It is with great sadness that the family of Mathew J Schenk announces his passing on November 18th 2024.

Mathew born in 1937, spent his life as a proud Michigander living in Berkeley MI and settling in

Traverse City MI.

While in the greater Detroit area Mathew served 20+ years in the Army National Guard while working for the Pepsi-Cola Company which afforded him to see the country while traveling as a representative.

Mathew was married to his adoring wife Shirley for 30+ years and together shared their home in

Holiday Hills in Traverse City.

As a proud member of the Chamber of Commerce, Mathew built his business in Traverse City and expanded to West Branch as well as Grand Rapids. He built long lasting friendships and business partners over that almost 40-year span.

Mathew’s quick wit and no filter conversationalist personality will be missed and appreciated by so many. He took great pride in his family and most recently was blessed with two great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Steven (Jackie) Schenk of Grawn MI, his two children, Richard (Kimberly) Schenk of Traverse City MI, Lisa Schenk of Interlochen, his granddaughter, Leann (Brett) Rupnow and great grandson’s, Blake and Preston of Interlochen.

He was proceeded in his death by his parents, Martha and Mathew Schenk, his wife, Shirley, and

grandson Jonathon P Gustafson (JP).
