Matthew Eric Denoyer

Matthew Eric Denoyer, 27, of Maple City, died Monday, January 31, 2022. He was born on June 25, 1994 in Traverse City the son of Eric Phillip Denoyer and Elizabeth “Beth” Ann-Marie (Reed) Denoyer.

He was baptized at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and later received Holy Communion and his Confirmation at St. Francis Catholic Church.

Matthew graduated from Traverse City West High School in 2012 and then attended University of Northwestern Ohio. He played on the high school bowling and Junior softball teams.

He worked as a Freight Handler with Morse Moving and Storage and previously with Denoyer Moving and Storage and Tom’s West Bay.

Matthew loved everything about NASA and Outer Space. He had an inquisitive mind and loved facts, most specifically discussing random facts and researching things. In his early years he played Piano and the Drums and listened to Classic 80’s Rock Music. Matthew was very shy, sensitive and had a Big Heart!

The love of his life is his son, Owen. Matthew once shared “he didn’t realize how much he could love someone until Owen was born.”

Matthew is survived by his 4 ½ year old son, Owen; mother, Beth (Curtis) Erickson; father, Eric (Joni Hosler) Denoyer; sister, Sara Elizabeth Denoyer; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Nancy Reed; paternal grandmother, Brenda Denoyer; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Floyd Denoyer and several great-grandparents.

An informal gathering will take place, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Life Story Funeral Home. A Memorial mass will take place 11 am, Monday, February 7, 2022 at St. Francis Catholic Church. The family will greet friends starting at 10:00 am.
