Michael McNeil

Michael Gerard McNeil 56 of Traverse City passed away at home after a brief illness with Sarcoma Cancer. He is now with our Savior and Lord.

Mike came into this world on August 15, 1955. He graduated in 1974 from Traverse City Senior High. He had a big love for music. Mike was a very talented drummer. In his younger years he played in a few local Bands. He was employed by the Grand Traverse Resort as a grounds keeper for the past 6 years which he loved. He had found his passion. Golf!

Mike was a soft spoken, sensitive man. He was very intelligent and super funny. He had a big interest in birds. His feeders were always full.

Mike is survived by his mother, Alice Ann McNeil, sister , Christi (Jack) Olman and their children, Shane and Alicia Olman all of Traverse City, brother, Thomas McNeil of Interlochen, whom he really looked up to. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and lots of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence L. McNeil and brother Francis who died in infancy.

Mike will be missed by all. The family would like to express their thanks to Kathy and Chris Morey for always being there for Mike and the family. You a true blessing. Thank you also to Chaplain Ron White and the staff at Hospice of Michigan and to Deacon Rene Hoenschied.

A Memorial Mass will take place 11:00am Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Jim Hayden as celebrant. The family will greet friends starting at 10:00am. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or the Father Fred Foundation.
