Michael W. Groves, 72, passed away December 9, 2021, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Michael was born February 3, 1950, in Swartz Creek, MI, to his parents John Donald Jackson and Fame Marilyn (Brushaber) Groves.
Michael graduated from Swartz Creek High School, Class of 1968. After graduation, he went on to study at Northwood University. He then went to trade stocks on the Chicago Board of Options for a period of time. He would go on to purchase Timberlee Hills in Traverse City and run a successful snow tubing hill and event center, making a legacy for himself, and helping families to make unforgettable memories.
Michael spent his summers on Higgins Lake where he met lifelong friends and made memories with those closest to him. He was always on the water and had a reputation for being the best water skier on the lake. He made sure that all his kids, nieces, nephews, and friends knew how to water ski and that he was to one to teach them.
Michael was blessed with a large family that loved him dearly. He was predeceased by his father, and his brother John. Surviving Michael is his mother Fame, brother Terry Groves and sister Janice Haywood as well as his children Michael J. Groves, Madison Groves, Julianna Groves, Joshua Groves, Stepchildren; Heather Donnelly, Jacob Bragenzer, and Benjamin Bragenzer; one grandson Austin Groves; many nieces and nephews that he enjoyed spending his life with.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 23rd from 12 pm-3 pm at the Traverse City Yacht Club and Saturday, June 25th 1-5 pm at The American Legion Hall; 3440 Morrish Rd, Swartz Creek MI 48473.
