Nancy Pauline Borsvold, 89, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025. Nancy was born January 14, 1936, in Dearborn, Michigan to Jay and Pauline (Cioma) Van Steenis.
Nancy grew up in Dearborn, and after graduation from Dearborn High moved to Grosse Ile, Michigan with her parents. It was here that she met her husband of 68 years, Donald L. Borsvold. They were married on June 8, 1957. Together they raised a family on a Navy salary and moved around for the next 11 years. In 1968, Donald and Nancy moved from the Philadelphia area back to Trenton, Michigan.
Nancy was very artistically talented and enjoyed painting, quilting, ceramics and crafts. Upon retirement Nancy and Don opened Kountry Kinfolk, a mercantile shop in Suttons Bay and later sold real estate in Traverse City. They also traveled all over the US in their motorhome before deciding to snowbird from Michigan to Bradenton, Florida. Here, Nancy and Don became travel agent reps for their retirement community. This allowed them to travel all over the Caribbean, Europe, Mexico and Alaska. She also enjoyed her weekly visits to the casino to play penny slots.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Jay Van Steenis and Pauline Van Steenis.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Borsvold; sons, Jeffrey (Deborah) Borsvold, Gregory (Lynnette) Borsvold, and Eric (Sherry) Borsvold; grandchildren, Karl (Adele) Borsvold, Derek (Justine) Borsvold, Nate (Tabatha) Borsvold, Megan Borsvold, Hannah (Isaac) Brown, Haley (Jack) Drow; and seven beautiful great grandchildren.
