Nancy Rue Snyder (Brown)

Passed away Tuesday evening 5/21/19 with family at her side. Her courage and caring for others was always present during her lengthy illness.

She was born in Rochester, Mi. on November 11, 1926. Her parents were Harold Leroy Brown Sr. and Mary Garnet (Lanham) Brown. Also preceding her in death were 6 sisters and 1 brother.

Edgar L. Snyder, her husband of 73yrs. (married Aug. 18, 1945 in Traverse City) survives. She was the love of his life as he was hers. Together they raised five children Randee (Pete) Morton, Pam (Chuck) Gordon, Patti (Russ) McKinnon all of Traverse City, Larry (Sue) Snyder of Powell, TN. and Nancy Kay (Jim) Nelson of Plymouth, MI. Nancy is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

During her lifetime she lived with her family in Traverse City, New York, Hawaii, Mississippi, and Puerto Rico before settling down in Traverse City , Nancy’s hometown in 1963. Nancy worked at Chef Pierre then in 1979 she owned and operated Sleepy Hollow Hotel with her Husband for 16 years. In 1995 she moved to Kalkaska residing there for 20 years then moving to Williamsburg for the last few years. Some of her interests, having 4 daughters, was volunteering in Girl Scouts. She was also active in the Cherry Festival with her husband. She enjoyed family dinners and bowling when she was younger. She was very involved and a master in Genealogy (though she wouldn’t agree) She published a book of her husband’s family history. She also helped others in finding lost or missing family members.
