Life Story / Obituary
Norma Jean Schaub, 78, of Traverse City, gained her Angel’s Wings and passed into eternal life, Friday, October 10, 2025.
Norma was born on July 13, 1947, in Traverse City, the daughter of Albert Wilbert Schaub and Anna Mary (Herman) Schaub.
Norma's parents were blessed with the birth of their first daughter of eleven children.
She grew up in Kingsley and attended Kingsley Schools. Norma lovingly cared for her siblings, while her parents worked. She was always wonderful with children and babysat the neighbor's children as well. Norma was very proud of caring for her nieces, nephews and greats, as well. They all have fond memories of their Aunt Norma, throughout their childhood.
Norma attended St Mary's Catholic Church of Hannah. Her faith and family were of utmost importance to her. Her life lessons were to put others first and always be kind. She definitely demonstrated those qualities throughout her life.
Christmas was a favorite time of year for Norma, and she loved Traverse City's Christmas lights and window shopping during that time. She also liked the Traverse City National Cherry Festival and going to the Cherry Bowl Drive-In. Norma enjoyed giving gifts to her younger siblings at Christmas. Norma worked hard to get things done, while working at United Technologies, which is now Lear Corporation. She was affectionally known as "Little Sarge", always swinging her arm as she walked. Norma retired after 27 years of dedicated service.
Norma enjoyed Country Music, cooking for others, and family get-togethers. She also liked to play Bingo, never missing a chance to go play. She continued to play Bingo, while at the Pavilions, as well. Norma was a huge Detroit Tigers fan and loved to watch them on TV. She thoroughly enjoyed attending one of their games. Norma dearly loved her fur babies Angel,
Lacey and Diego. She looked forward to Diego's visit while living at the Pavilions, and Diego was loved by all the residents.
Norma is survived by her siblings, Roger (Sue) Schaub, David (Sue) Schaub, Don (Pam) Schaub, Marie Schaub, Carol Strandell, Rhonda Edwards, and Randy Schaub, and numerous nieces, nephews, and greats.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Anna; brother and sisters-in-law, Gary and Frances Schaub, Andy (Nelda) Schaub; and infant brother, Glen Schuab.
