Oran Smith

Oran H. Smith passed away peacefully at Medilodge of Grand Traverse County on February 1, 2022.

Oran was born in Saginaw on January 4, 1943. He worked for C&O as a conductor for 27 years and truly loved the railroad. He was known as a man who could fix anything and was loved by all for his easygoing and warm personality.

He was happily married to his beloved and adored wife, Jane, for 43 years and was a wonderful stepdad to Michael (Cintia), Deborah Alles, and Steve (Male).

He is survived by his wife, Jane; step-children; 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Oran’s family is especially grateful to the PACE Program and to Dr. Mark Byland for their wonderful care of Oran.

A memorial service will be held in the spring.
