Patricia McKinnon (Snyder)

December 13, 1951 – August 27, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia McKinnon (née Snyder), who departed this life on August 27, 2025, in Traverse City, Michigan. Born on December 13, 1951, in Staten Island, New York, her legacy lives on in the lives she nurtured and the hearts she warmed.

Patricia was a devoted mother and grandmother, a loyal friend, and a gentle presence whose kindness and strength touched everyone she met. She found deep joy in spending time with her grandchildren, cherishing every moment of laughter, learning, and love they shared. She often referred to them as her “besties,” and the bond they shared was filled with warmth, fun, and unconditional love.

She spent many years working in schools, beginning as a volunteer and always ready to lend a hand wherever needed. Her compassion and dedication led her to support students who needed extra help with reading and writing—a role she embraced with patience and care. In 2000, Patricia was honored with an award recognizing her outstanding contributions to education.

She is survived by her sons, Craig McKinnon (married to Jessica) and David McKinnon (married to Tiffani), and her beloved grandchildren, Jaquelynn (daughter of Craig), and Nicholas and Nathan (sons of David).

Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russ McKinnon.

She was also “Mom” to many of her children’s friends, who often came by to visit—even when Craig and David weren’t home—drawn by her warmth, humor, and welcoming spirit.

An informal gathering will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Life Story Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 2:45 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City, where family and friends will continue to honor her life and memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to your favorite charity in Patricia’s name, in honor of her generous spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
