Patrica Ann VanDeventer, born in South Bend, Indiana on June 25, 1944, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on June 24, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyman and Lurilla Murphy; her brothers, Bill and Tom Murphy; her son, Tim Belanger; and her husband, Tom VanDeventer. She is survived by her son, Mark and his wife Lesley Belanger and their children Joshua and his wife Shawna Belanger, and their son Alexander, her great grandson and Emily Belanger; her daughter Jo (VanDeventer) Prechtl and her husband Eric and their children Stephen and Skyler Prechtl. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

Pat graduated from Traverse City Senior High and also got her associates degree from Northwestern Michigan College. Pat enjoyed playing the trumpet, accordion, and keyboard. A creative and artistic person, she loved painting. A woman of deep and abiding Christian faith, Pat loved playing on the worship team at Mt. Zion Family Worship Center. She also played the keyboard at Glacier Dome Arena for the local hockey games.

Pat operated a daycare in her home, for many children over the years, and was known as a gracious hostess for friends and family in the neighborhood. With her entrepreneurial spirit, she led her to publish her own magazine, Believers by the Bay, that many people enjoyed. She was actively involved with the 4-H program and the Christian Motorcycle Association, where she formed many lasting friendships.

One of her favorite pastimes was traveling and camping all over America with her family. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for compassionate care given at Joy Givers and through Heartland Hospice during Pat's final days.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Life Story Funeral Home. Visitation will start at 2:00 pm. Private family burial will be at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens with her husband, Tom.
