Paula Hemgesberg

Paula Marie Hemgesberg, 68, of Grawn, Michigan, passed from this life into the arms of her Savior on May 22, 2024. She had fought a courageous, faith-filled battle with breast cancer.

Paula was born on November 28, 1955 in Flint, Michigan to Douglas and Shirley Hall (Ormiston). Paula was an excellent student and graduated from New Lowthrop High School in 1973. On October 22, 1976, she married James Hemgesberg and they began a life of serving Jesus together. Paula served in many capacities and in many churches. She blessed the lives of teenagers in the Punta Gorda, Florida area while serving with Jim as youth pastors at Word of Life Fellowship for 15 years. Paula received her pastoral ordination through FCF and she and Jim pastored Rivers of Life Fellowship in Traverse City, Michigan from 2000 to 2015. Paula loved to minister to everyone, telling them of their Heavenly Father's love for them. This ministry took her to Ireland several times to teach there.

Paula is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jim; her son, Luke (Tonia); granddaughters, Jordan and Taylor; her parents, Doug and Shirley; her brother, Stan (Cathy); her sister, Amy (Calvin) and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Lisa; a miscarried baby; her brother, Steve and her grandparents. We are so thankful for family reunions in Heaven!

A celebration of Paula's life will be held on Saturday, June 22nd at 11AM. A light food reception to follow from noon until 2pm. The service will be led by Cyndi Scarboroush and will be held at Life Story Funeral Home in Traverse City, Michigan.
