Paula Lyons

Paula Lynn "Schmaltz" Lyons was born on October 17, 1954 in St Joseph Michigan to Alan and Lois Schmaltz.

She grew up in Watervliet Michigan, graduating from the Watervliet High school in 1973. She attended Western Michigan University graduating with an Arts degree in 1977. She later went back to school to achieve getting her master's degree to be a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Paula had a passion for horses and teaching local youths and she passed on that passion to her daughters, friends and neighbors. Paula had participated in 4-H when she was a teenager in Berrien County. She later on was an enthusiastic member of the Carousel 4-H Club , sharing her passion for showing with her kids, for many years in Traverse City. Her passion and influence will be missed in her 4-H community.

Paula is survived by her mother Lois Schmaltz, her brother Dave Schmaltz, her two children Timothy and Grace Lyons, her Aunt JoAnne Goodrich, and many loving relatives. Paula was preceded in death by her father Alan Schmaltz.

Paula passed away in an automobile accident while visiting her beloved daughter Brianne Lyons in South Africa. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and the members of her congregation in "The Orchard" church.

The memorial service for Paula will be held at New Hope Community Church in Williamsburg at the same time as her beloved daughter Brianne.
