Peggy Morris

Peggy Lowe Morris, 79, of Traverse City, Michigan passed away at home while surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

Peggy was born in Laurel, Mississippi on October 26, 1940 to Lemon and Katherine (Williams) Lowe. She graduated from Laurel High School at the age of 16. After graduation, Peggy married the love her life, Lawrence “Larry” Morris, on June 1, 1957 in Laurel, Mississippi. Peggy unwaveringly supported Larry during his 20 years of service in the Air Force, and, together, they were stationed in over eleven states and lived in 40 different houses. In addition to her devotion to raising their three children, Peggy was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed reading and crafting. She worked as an Air Force auditor at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska, and also held an administrative role with the Grand Traverse Road Commission in Traverse City, Michigan. Peggy was baptized into the Church of Christ and dearly loved the Lord.

Peggy is survived by her husband Larry Morris of Traverse City, MI; daughters Debra Chemosky of Traverse City, MI and Barbara Carroll of Montgomery, TX; grandsons Aaron (Marilyn Velez) Smalley of Grandville, MI, David (Heather) Smalley of Kalamazoo, MI, Bradley Morris of Marquette, MI, Andrew (Amanda) Carroll of Conroe, TX, and Kyle Morris of Marquette, MI; granddaughters Dana (Russell) Elder of Houston, TX and Charisse Morris of Marquette, MI; six great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Pamela Morris; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Lemon Lowe and Katherine (Lowe) McBride; siblings LB Lowe, Leonard Lowe, and Glenda (Joyce) Driscoll; half siblings Billy Lowe and Bobby Lowe; and son Randall Morris.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on October 26, 2020 at the Traverse City Church of Christ, 3250 Rennie Street, Traverse City, Michigan. The family will greet friends starting at 12 noon.
