Philip Nathan Potrafka, 78, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully in his home on November 25, 2020, with his loving family by his side.

He was born to Orvy David and Mildred Emma (Throop) Potrafka on September 1, 1942, in Traverse City. He graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1961. He married Janice Marie Call in 1969 and had two children (Josh and Michelle). He retired after 40 years from R.L. Polk and Company.

He loved and cherished being with his family. He was a devoted husband and a loving father and brother. He loved music and instilled an appreciation for it in his children. Phil led his family in regular church attendance, leaving a legacy of powerful Christian faith and values in his children and grandchildren.

As a lover of people, he was quick to make new friends. Wherever he went, you could expect that he would run into someone he knew. Phil was very hospitable towards others as he enjoyed a cup or two or five of coffee with friends that stopped by for a visit. All who knew him enjoyed his witty sense of humor.

He enjoyed attending car shows, collecting antiques, and was a John Deere Enthusiast. Phil would participate in parades with his 1944 John Deere Model B tractor and 1930 Chevrolet. He loved the Buckley Old Engine Show and would take his family to camp for the entire show. He enjoyed gardening and working around his property, small woodworking projects, antique model cars and aircraft, puzzles, and making beautiful wooden frames for them.

Philip is survived by his children, Joshua (Terrie) Potrafka of Traverse City and Michelle (James) Snyder of Milton, Tennessee; grandchildren, Aaron, Elaina, Chloe, Clarisa, Cayla and Nathan and sister, Shirley (Mike) Weiglein.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Janice Marie Potrafka.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the care teams:

-Npalliative & Chronic Care Management

-Heartland Hospice

-Anastasia Johnson (Sacred Space Care)
