Ralph Francis Reamer, 77, of Traverse City died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Munson Hospice House.

The son of Joseph and Frances (Endres) Reamer, he was born April 22, 1935 in Hannah.

He served in the United States Army for eighteen months and in the Reserves for six years.

He moved to Traverse City in 1953 and has lived there since. On May 17, 1958 he married Laura E. Ingham.

Ralph worked at the Traverse City Regional Psychiatric Hospital for 36 years until its closure, retiring as building trades supervisor.

Ralph enjoyed fishing, hunting, working with wood, traveling, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an active member of the American Military League.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Laura Reamer of Traverse City; sons, David (Cindi) Reamer of Indiana, James (Danelle) Reamer, and John Reamer of Traverse City; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Ray (Betty) Reamer and Bob (Bette Lou) Reamer both of Traverse City; sisters, Rose Marie (Ray) Duell, Marilyn (Rod) Rice of Traverse City and Doris (Jim) Rodes of Kingsley, and many nieces and nephews; two foster brothers, Ronnie Waukazoo and Roger Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law Diana.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, at the Life Story Funeral Home, Traverse City, where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, March 21, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Military honors will be provided the Army Active duty personnel and Cherryland VFW Post 2780. The family will greet friends at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Ralph to the American Kidney Association, American Lung Association or Munson Hospice House.
