Reverend Richard Anderson, 90, of Traverse City, Michigan, entered into eternal rest on February 17, 2026. Richard was a faithful servant of the Lutheran Church.
Richard earned his college degrees from St. Olaf College, Wartburg Theological Seminary, and the University of Michigan. He proudly served in the United States Army. Richard found pleasure in reading, skiing, biking, and traveling. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family and having the occasional glass of red wine. Throughout his distinguished career, Rev. Anderson served several congregations: St. George Lutheran Church in Brighton, MI; Trinity Lutheran Church in Manton, MI; Lakeview Lutheran Manor in Cadillac, MI; Bethany Lutheran Church in Northport, MI; and finally St. John Lutheran Church in Grayling, MI.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Linda Anderson; their children, Rachel (Tim) Wedley and Matthew Anderson; his grandchildren, Elysha Anderson, Emma and Maggie Clarke, Meaghan(Tyler)Weiss, and Olin and Lilja Anderson; his great-grandchildren, BraeLynn Anderson and Luna Weiss. He was preceded in death by his parents, Olaf and Alice Anderson, and his son, Peter Anderson.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Reverend Richard Anderson will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Feast of Victory Lutheran Church ELCA, 4400 Mount Hope Road, Acme, MI.
Visitation with the family will take place at 10:00 a.m. prior to the 11:00 a.m. service, with a luncheon to follow.
