Richard Krakowski

Richard (Rick) Krakowski, 97, of Traverse City died, Saturday, January 4, 2025. Born April 29, 1927 in Hamtramck, Michigan the son of John and Marie (Sadowski) Krakowski.

He was married to Dorothy (Kulpa) Krakowski on June 7, 1954 and they were married for 27 years.

Rick is survived by his four daughters, Kathy Yuresko, Nancy (Steve) McWethy, Mary (Clark) Southwell, Renee (Denny) Cheung; daughter-in-law, Norine Krakowski; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; son, Richard, and son-in-law, Pete Yuresko.

After serving in WWII occupational forces in Europe, Rick worked for thirty years at Western Electric as a commercial telephone installer. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter, enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and sharing stories from his youth. After retiring he resumed his love of swimming and swam into his early eighties.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, January 11, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The family will greet friends starting at 10:00 am. A luncheon will follow and then the burial with Military Honors will take place at 1:45 pm at Oakwood Catholic Cemetery, Traverse City.
