Richard T. MacConnel, age 84 of Traverse City, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 3, 2019, while wintering in Florida. He was born on March 13, 1934 to Stella McBride and Ralph MacConnel of Bay Port, Michigan.

He met and married Sandra (Aeschliman) Lowell on August 8, 1964 in Florida. Between them, they have six daughters. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandy; his daughters, Brenda (Rick) Rattray, Lori (Ed) Boomer, Debbie Akers, Angela (Dan) MacConnel, Melinda MacConnel, all of Traverse City and Ethel Pettet of Ortonville, Michigan. A brother, Jim (Pat) MacConnel; a sister, Pat MacConnel; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He served in the United States Marine Corp. He also enjoyed camping, spending time with family and dancing, gardening and working in the garage. He was a surveyor in Florida and known as Party Chief (foreman). He worked as a window washer and Cone Drive in Traverse City for many years.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, sisters; Joyce Packard and Pam English; son in laws, Ron Akers and Bob Pettet; a niece, Rhonda Southgate and a nephew, Scott Lorenz.

He was greatly loved by all and will be missed.

A celebration will start at 2:30pm on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Cherryland VFW Post #2780. The service will start at 3pm with Military Honors and a luncheon to follow.
