Richard Montague

Richard Thomas Montague 88 of Traverse City passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 18, 2011 at his home surrounded by his devoted wife and family.

Richard was born on February 11, 1923 in Traverse City the son of Thomas and Lucy (Bradford) Montague.

Known to many as the man with a golden heart, Richard was a lifelong fruit farmer who took great pride in the operation of his successful farm. Along with his joy of farming he was an avid hunter and fisherman and an award winning bowler. Richard loved Detroit Tigers Baseball and was a great fan of NASCAR Racing.

Richard and Phyllis were married on September 2, 1982.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis of 29 years, his caring stepson, and daughter-in-law, Don and Shirley Jones, his truly amazing niece and nephew, Mariann and Robin Mattes and niece and nephew, Rachel (Kyle) Foster.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lucy Montague, his Aunts, Mabel Martin and Marjorie Holman.
