Life Story / Obituary

Print

Robert L. White of Acme, Michigan passed away suddenly on April 21st, resulting from an accident at his home. Bob was a golfer, gardener, fair weather outdoorsman, painter, husband, father and grandfather.

Bob started life with his mother’s love, an incredible gift of charisma and a kind heart. He married his high school sweetheart, the adorable Mary Lou, right out of Chelsea high school. The basketball star and his sweetheart had three children…Bob, Bill and Tom.

Bob worked by day and went to college at night as his babies crawled all over his homework. Bob went to work for Caterpillar and eventually landed at Michigan Cat where he gave his whole heart to the people that move earth. We grew up listening to our dad tell stories of success in the business world. Years later we learned he was truly quite legendary at work. Bob had a gift with people and to him customers were friends that just happened to buy things from him. In many ways Bob never really retired and certainly never lost his charm and gift of making instant friends wherever he went.

When grandchildren came along, Bob’s name changed permanently to “Pops”. His beloved grandchildren, Tim and Mary were lucky enough to grow up with Pops as a grandparent, loving helper and friend. Pops was so proud of the adults his children and grandchildren had become. We can only hope to follow in his indelible tracks.

Of all his great accomplishments, Bob’s love for his wife, partner and best friend eclipsed everything. Mary Lou was the earth, moon and stars for Bob. Hearing our Dad tell mom how much he loved her was part of the daily conversation at our house. That love guided us. Now we will look for his star to guide us.

Pops will be forever missed.

We would love if you shared your stories and how Bob touched your life at www.lifestorytc.com
